The Box

The Box are a design company from Manchester who were formed in 1997. They specialize in 3D animation, Broadcast graphics, Title sequences, TV commercials, Editing and Special FX. The Box has created work for clients such as BBC, Channel 4, Sony Music, Nike, Adidas and MTV2.

I came across the company after watching a program on Sky One called, Man Utd's Greatest Goals. The Box created the title sequence for the program which is done in a very unusual way for a football program. Most other programs normally show only footage of football for example Match of the Day and Soccer AM. However, The Box have created their title sequence in a comic book style using lots of illustrations. The sequence starts of with a sketch of the winning 1968 team and then turns into real footage as the team lifts the trophy. This technique is used throughout with different footballers changing from an illustrations to actual footage. I really like this technique and the comic book format works really well along side the mixed media piece.

I really like this company as a whole, and I would love the opportunity to meet with someone from the company to show my work so far and ask for tips and advice for my final major project. As I develop my ideas for my major project I will email the company to see if there is a chance to meet with someone.
